Dear Parent/Guardian: The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) will be administered to all South Eastern School District brick and mortar, SESD virtual, and SESD online academy students in grades 3-8 on the following dates:

April 22, 23, 24 English Language Arts – Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

April 29, 30 Mathematics – Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

May 1, 2 Science – Grades 4, 8

All students in grades 3-8 (brick and mortar, SESD virtual, and SESD online academy) will report to their school building to participate in testing. If your child attends SESD virtual or SESD online academy and needs transportation on these days, please contact SESD’s transportation department at (717) 382-4843, extension 6227 by April 12, 2024.

Please review the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) guidelines for electronic devices in English or Spanish. Separate information containing facts about state mandated testing is available in English or Spanish. Additional PSSA information is available at www.education.pa.gov. Please contact me if you do not have internet access and would like this information.

Please encourage your children to put forth their best efforts while taking the PSSA. Students should prepare by getting plenty of sleep and eating a nutritious breakfast. We do request that you avoid scheduling any appointments during the testing sessions. If you would like to know the specific times of the testing sessions, please contact the building principal at the school your child attends. Try to minimize stress levels and remind your child this is an opportunity to celebrate all that they have learned this year.

Thank you in advance for your support of our collective efforts during the 2024 state assessments. Your child’s PSSA results will be available to you this Fall. Should you have questions regarding state mandated assessments, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Greg W. Anderson, Ed.D.
Assistant Superintendent
