SYC Youth Club Challenger Basketball of Southern York County

What is Challenger Basketball?

The Challenger League provides an oasis where everyone is a valid player, and parents who often feel isolated can network and find comfort in each other's company. Playing in a league can help kids gain self esteem, independence and form friendships with other kids.

This is a basketball program designed for children ages 4 - 18 with Special Needs who live with physical or mental challenges. This is a league designed for those children to participate in a sports environment structured for their success. Teams will be split according to size / age, and the rules are more laid back than in a typical game of basketball. The Challenger League's aim is for participants to have fun while learning the game of basketball. Players will work on skill building which provides an essential opportunity for kids to develop stronger emotional and social skills while working as a team. Challenger basketball stresses participation not competition. "Buddies" will be on hand, if
needed, to provide encouragement, direction and assistance to the players.

Registration is $25 per participant. Season starts in January and ends in March.

Visit www.sycwarriors.org and register your player today! Registration ends Dec 4th.

For additional information contact Jen Perry, VP of the Challenger Division, at [email protected].

Do you know a Special Someone? Come play with us and join the Challenger Family! Join us in our 2nd Annual Basketball Season

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT -Fundraising

We wanted to acknowledge our community members who have taken the time to plan, organize, and hold fundraisers for Autism York.  We are constantly amazed and grateful for the community’s support of our organization!

  • We wanted to extend our deepest appreciation to Steve Dixon and the York Motorcycle Club, who organized the7th Annual Rider’s Rally!  It was a great day for a motorcycle ride and to raise $3,500 for Autism York!  THANK YOU for this continued support, and we appreciate the HUGE effort it takes to put on such an event on our behalf!
  •  Dallastown Area School District  K-3 Autism Support Teacher Alexis Seneft and her classes designed and sold autism awareness t-shirts with no intention of making a profit, but they did!  They also held a Jean’s Day at York Township Elementary School, and they decided to donate all of their proceeds from these 2 events to us.  As a result of their hard work, dedication, and generosity, they raised and donated $774!  Amazing job, teachers and students!  Thank you!
  • Thank you to the members of the Jefferson Area AARP #3699 for thinking of Autism York and for donating $50
Autism York thanks each of our donors, as we are funded solely through community support.  We know that it takes time, effort and energy to plan and organize each of these events, and we thank you!
