Registration is OPEN for the 2018 Autism Expo & WALK for Autism, scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Central York High School (601 Mundis Mills Rd, York). For the past six years, we have welcomed over 3,000 attendees to this combined event.

The
Autism Expo allows families living with autism to come together, to get information, and to connect with autism services, providers and products! We are also welcoming non-autism specific vendors! Each exhibitor will be featuring a FREE family-friendly activity or giveaway! Register today to be a Vendor.

The WALK for Autism is a special way for families, friends, students and businesses to come together and support someone affected by autism in a meaningful and fun way! Trophies will be awarded to the overall Top 3 Fundraising Teams. What are you waiting for? Create or supporta team today!

Volunteers andSponsors for our big day!

**NOTE: Due to current state regulations, Autism York is UNABLE to offer childcare services at the Autism Expo & WALK.**

Jersey Mike’s Subs has once again chosen Autism York to be their “Month of Giving” charity of choice!For the entire month of March, you can stop in at their location (Queensgate Town Center; 1911 Springwood Road, York), pick up some subs, wraps or desserts, and make a donation to Autism York. They are open 10am-9pm daily.

In addition,
Wednesday, March 28, 2018 is Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving", where 100% of the proceeds from the entire day’s sales on will be donated to Autism York!

Please join us for a fun-filled morning atTumble Townin the York Galleria Mall! Our play dates atTumbleTownare a great place for the kids to unwind and for parents to chat! This is a kid friendly and secure indoor play place.

TumbleTownopens exclusively for Autism York from 9:00-10:00 am only. Our group will have to exit the play area prior to Tumble Town opening to the public at 10:00 am. Please be prepared for possible lines when you check in your child. No RSVP necessary.

This event is FREE for children on the autism spectrum and their siblings!

Our events have become increasingly popular, please plan accordingly. Unless otherwise noted, there is no limit to the number of guests welcome to attend.

This event allows families and individuals affected by autism to network and locate appropriate resources.

WALK for Autism is a special way for families, friends, students and businesses to come together and show their support for those affected by autism in a meaningful and fun way!

There are many opportunities to be involved in this family-friendly day: create a Team and Walk for Autism,volunteer,become acorporate sponsor,or come set up a table at the Expo if you’re a Vendor or if you’re an autism-specific service provider.

Snow Tubing

Tuesday, February 27, 2018
6:00-8:00pm (Passes valid until 11:00pm)
Avalanche Xpress at Heritage Hills Resort(2700 Mount Rose Avenue, York)


Autism York will pay for each Adulton the spectrum and ONE accompanying friend, OR each Teenon the spectrum and ONE accompanying adult.

Join us for a night of snow tubing at Avalanche Xpress! Autism York will cover the cost for each Adult on the spectrum and ONE accompanying friend OR each Teen on the spectrum and ONE accompanying adult. (It is not necessary that the adult snow tube with their Teen, only to supervise them during the event.)

We will meet as a group at the entrance. We are welcoming groups and invite new participants to attend. Please arrive a few minutes early so that we may begin as a group.

Fundraising

We wanted to acknowledge the many community members who have taken the time to plan, organize, and hold fundraisers for Autism York. We are constantly amazed and grateful for the community’s support of our organization!

 

 

 

  • We wanted to extend our sincere appreciation to GEA North America. As a result of their incredible October Golf Outing, they were able to raise over $7,100 to Autism York! Thank you for this MOST generous donation!

 

 

  • We wanted to give a special shout-out to Jennifer Diehl who planned, organized and orchestrated the 2nd Annual Holiday Shopping Bazaar, which raised over $1,000 for Autism York! Thank you for your on-going support!

 

 

  • Many thanks to Scott Baublitz, owner of NrGize Lifestyle Café. He organized and ran a raffle during his Customer Appreciation Day, generating over $400! We truly appreciate all of your hard work and creativity!

 

 

  • Melissa Miller of Shuckin’ for Autism, donated $90, which represents 10% of her commission from her business of customers shucking oysters and revealing pearls! Thank you for your ongoing support!

MONTHLY MEETINGSPOTLIGHT -

 

"Customized Employment" with Guest Speaker Julie Rasmuson

Thursday, January 4, 2018
7:00-8:00pm
The Jewish Community Center (2000 Hollywood Drive, York)

Join us for an evening of information and discussion surrounding Customized Employment and current available funding for individuals interested in joining the workforce with guest speaker Julie Rasmuson.

Customized Employment is focused on gaining employment for individuals with disabilities by paying particular attention to their individual interests, skills, and conditions for work. The customized employment process is designed to match the identified contributions and skills of a job seeker with an employer’s needs. This is the current trend in job development in the State of Pennsylvania.

Julie Rasmuson is a Certified Customized Employment Specialist and Certified Job Developer as well as an Education Inclusion Specialist with The Arc of Pennsylvania. She has two children of her own and serves on the Board of Autism York.

Autism York will be serving light refreshments, and a door prize will be given away! No RSVP necessary.

Child care is provided by at least two professional staff who are experienced with children on the autism spectrum. If a child exhibits behaviors that are not easily redirected by the staff, parents may be called from the meeting to come help their child.

Indoor Swimming

Saturday, January 13, 2018

York YMCA

(Parking is available behind the YMCA)

Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their immediate families are invited to join us for an afternoon of swimming in the YMCA’s heated indoor pool!

All swimmers must be accompanied by an adult during the entire event. Parents are welcome to view swimmers from the pool deck. Non swimmers must be accompanied by an adult in the pool. No RSVP necessary. Just come out and enjoy!

Note: Pool is 4ft. to 10ft. in depth. Please take into consideration when deciding who is eligible to participate in this event.

We wanted to remind everyone that Autism York suspends its regularly scheduled Monthly Meetings during the month of December due to the busy nature of the holiday season.

  • We wanted to extend our sincere appreciation to Mack Madness for donating $2,000 to Autism York, honoring their late daughter, McKenzie, who passed away due to complications from Leukemia in February of 2009. We appreciate your continued support!

 

 

  • The dedicated workers of the Sprenkle Village Garden Club have donated $400! Its members sow and harvest fruits and vegetable throughout the growing seasons. These are then purchased by residents of their Village, by donation. Thank you for your on-going support!

 

 

  • Many thanks toDiane Spangler, Independent Consultant for Thirty-One Gifts.For the months of April and May, she donated 10% of her sales to Autism York, resulting in $58!

Autism York South Monthly Support Meetings are held at Stewartstown Elementary School*, 17945 Barren Road North, Stewartstown, PA 17363. Doors open at 6:45 pm. (Sept-Nov; Jan-May)

Social Events
Autism York hosts a multitude of autism-friendly social events. These events are FREE and open to individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their immediate families.

Adult ASD Meet-Up
This group provides an opportunity for older teens and adults (around age 18 and up) with an ASD to meet for support,self-advocacy, networking, conversation, and fun. (Sept-Nov; Jan-May; occasional summer meet-ups)

Teen Meet-Up
This group provides an opportunity for teens aged 13-17 with an ASD to meet for support, networking, conversation, and fun. (Sept-Nov; Jan-May)
