Volunteer as an Educational Surrogate

Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 is accepting volunteers to serve as Educational Surrogates in York, Adams and Franklin counties.
Work on behalf of a special education student to ensure they get the services they need to succeed.

Free training is provided on the role of a surrogate parent, legal considerations associated with surrogate parents and an overview of the special education process.

MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP SPOTLIGHT -

Have you been thinking about attending one of our Monthly Support Group meetings but haven’t yet? Now’s your chance before the summer hiatus! Our informal “Chat” style meetings are a great introduction to these all-inclusive support group meetings!

This month, at BOTH the North and the South Monthly Support Group Meetings, we will discuss whatever is on your mind. Come and express your concerns, ask questions, and share your successes in this understanding and non-judgmental environment. Come meet some new people or reconnect with those you might not have seen in a while!

Our Meeting dates and locations are as follows:
Our
NORTH Support Group is scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 7:00-8:00pm. Doors open at 6:45pm at The Jewish Community Center (2000 Hollywood Drive, York). The NORTH meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month September-November; January-May.

Our
SOUTH Support Group is scheduled for Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 7:00-8:00pm.Doors open at 6:45pm at Stewartstown Elementary School (17945 Barren Road North, Stewartstown.) The SOUTH meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month September-November; January-May.

Autism York will be serving light refreshments. No RSVP necessary. Trained childcare is provided at both locations.

Have YOU visited our Dr. John M. Ortiz Autism York Lending Library since it has a new home?? If not, now’s your chance!

The Lending Library, featuring over 800 Autism-related books and DVDs, is now open at
PA Counseling, located at 225 E. Springettsbury Avenue. The hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00am-5:00pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00am-5:00pm and Fridays from 8:00am-4:00pm. Stop by and check us out!

TEEN MEET-UP SPOTLIGHT-


The Prancing Pig!

Prancing Pig Pottery & Gifts

2021 Springwood Road, York

Join us at the Prancing Pig! Each Teen on the spectrum is invited to come a paint a piece of pottery of their choosing, which will then be fired in a kiln and be available for pick up a few days later. The pottery studio has a variety of ceramics available for males and females! Teens can stay until they are finished painting their pottery.

**A responsible adult MUST attend with each participant.**
(It’s not required that the adult paint with their Teen, only to supervise them during the event itself.)


This group provides an opportunity for teens aged 13-17 with an autism spectrum disorder to meet for support, networking, conversation and fun! We meet on the 2nd Friday or Saturday of each month, September-November and January-May.

Registration is OPEN for the 2018 Autism Expo & WALK for Autism, scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 11:00am-3:00pm at Central York High School (601 Mundis Mills Rd, York). For the past six years, we have welcomed over 3,000 attendees to this combined event.

The
Autism Expo allows families living with autism to come together, to get information, and to connect with autism services, providers and products! We are also welcoming non-autism specific vendors! Each exhibitor will be featuring a FREE family-friendly activity or giveaway! Register today to be a Vendor.

The WALK for Autism is a special way for families, friends, students and businesses to come together and support someone affected by autism in a meaningful and fun way! Trophies will be awarded to the overall Top 3 Fundraising Teams. What are you waiting for? Create or supporta team today!

York Motorcycle Club's 8th Annual "Rider's Rally for Autism"

The York Motorcycle Club is hosting their 8th Annual Rider’s Rally for Autism, where registered riders will enjoy a 30 mile round trip ride through scenic York! The day starts at the York Motorcycle Club at 2333 Whiteford Road with breakfast being served from 8:00-11:00am at the price of $5.00 per person.

Autism Awareness Items, Vendors, Door Prizes and a Silent Auction are all part of this exciting day! Donations are being accepted in advance or at registration the day of the event.All proceeds benefit Autism York!

Lunch is provided for all registered Riders. Kids of all ages welcome!
